They had been told by the gang not to intervene because they had guns. Following the attack they get on their bikes and ride off into the night.
The violence was caught on two CCTV cameras Thursday and shared online with the tagline "8 men vs one woman." Sarcastic posters described the mob as "manly." Two men are seen doing most of the kicking.
The unnamed girl who is Laotian suffered multiple injuries to her head, eye and body and also a broken finger.
Bukkhalo police told reporters that the girl went with a man who had a wife but she didn't know. The wife found out and sent people to warn her on a previous occasion and discovering the truth the Laotian girl decided to end the relationship.
But the jealous wife was not happy, police said, and ordered the gang to return resulting in the scene on the video.
A taskforce of police and army was mobilised to search the Rachada - Tha Phra area in Dao Khanong on the Thonburi side of Bangkok. One suspect was found but denied involvement.

Police track leaker of Hua Hin beating clip
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN - Police are looking for the person who leaked a video clip of a savage attack on three British tourists in Hua Hin during the Songkran festival.
Pol Maj Gen Kritsana Jaemsawang, chief of the Prachuap Khiri Khan police, said on Saturday that the clip was evidence intended for official use in the police investigation. As such, it was supposed to be kept confidential until the conclusion of the investigation, which has resulted in four arrests.
The incident occurred on April 13 but did not come to public attention until Thursday when the video emerged and started to go viral on social media. Numerous versions have been posted on YouTube and have attracted tens of thousands of views.
Pol Maj Gen Kritsana told Thai media he was not objecting to people sharing the video, but he did question whether doing so violated the rights of the victims, who are seen lying unconscious on the pavement.
The video provoked shock and outrage worldwide because of the brutality of the assault and the ages of the victims, including a 65-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man from Scotland.
The four men accused of the attack have been caught. Suphatra Baithong, Yingyai Saengkham-in, both aged 32, and Siwa Noksri, 20, were captured within days of the assault while Chaiya Jaiboon, 20, was apprehended at his home in Pran Buri district on Thursday.
The investigation began after Hua Hin police found footage on April 14 from a municipal CCTV camera in the beach resort town. It showed the tourists being violently attacked -- the elderly woman was punched in the face -- during Songkran festivities on Soi Bintabaht in Hua Hin early on April 13.
Shortly after being caught, Mr Chaiya admitted he and his three friends had been drunk at the time, according to police. He said he thought one of the tourists had hit one of his friends first.
The four suspects apologised to the the victims. But one of the victims, Lewis Owen, told the Daily Mirror newspaper in the UK that he and his parents would never come back to Thailand.
Mr Owen said his father suffered two black eyes and received six stitches to his forehead. He had 16 stitches on his head in three areas while his mother suffered fluid on the brain that needed draining.
On Friday night, Pol Maj Gen Kritsana led a team of senior Hua Hin police, tourist police, officials and soldiers onto the streets to meet tourists. They hope to create understanding among visitors that the attack was an isolated incident and the perpetrators were now in custody.

Bashed Brit couple to testify in court
The elderly British couple whose family suffered a brutal attack by four Thai men will today testify before the Hua Hin Provincial Court.
Though still haunted by the assaults which left them and their son lying bloodied and unconscious on a street in a Hua Hin resort district, Lewis Owen, 68, and his wife Rosemary, 65, managed to smile when they were visited yesterday by Orasa Awutkhom, chief of the Prachuap Khiri Khan tourism office.
They were preparing to testify before the court after the couple earlier gave police accounts of what happened in the early hours of the first day of the Songkran festival on April 13.
Police will escort the pair to the court at 1.30pm, Prachuap Khiri Khan police chief Kasana Chamsawang said.
The four suspects face jail terms of between six months and 10 years if they are found guilty on charges of physical assault causing severe injuries.
The attack started when the couple's 43-year-old son, Lewis John Owen, accidentally bumped into Suphattha Baithong, one of the suspects, in Soi Bintabhat in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Hua Hin district, an investigation found.
The Owens have blurred memories of what happened after the initial contact.
But CCTV footage shows Mr Suphattha, 32, pushing Lewis Owen Jnr to the ground.
As his parents tried to stop the scuffle, Mr Suphattha and his three friends punched the three in the face, kicked their bodies and stomped on their faces.
The other suspects are Chaiya Jaiboon, 20, Siva Noksri, 20, and Yingyai Saengkhamin, 32.
A video clip of the attack, which went viral online and made headlines overseas, was later seen by the victims after they recovered from their head and brain injuries.
Police are searching for whoever leaked the footage of the attack and plan to charge them for dealing another blow to the country's already battered tourism image.
The video shows Thais dealing out to foreigners shocking and cruel attacks which "have left a huge impact on the victims' minds", Ms Orasa said.
Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Thawi Naritsirikun has set up a committee to improve safety for Thai and foreign tourists.
Vigilance will be tightened in Hua Hin district and Pak Nam Pran in Pranburi district, which are well known for their beaches, he said.

Der zweite Bericht beschreibt richtig, das die Gegner bei dem Streit auch massiv getreten wurde. Die Thais haben auf den liegenden Personen getreten, nachdem die durch die Schläge bereits zu Boden gegangen waren.
Und dafür sollen die in den Knast, nicht für den ersten Schlag, der lässt sich ja mit "die alte Frau hat vorher geschlagen" noch gerade so rechtfertigen, auch wenn die Opfer wirklich alt waren, sondern für das vielfache Treten auf wehrlose Opfer.
Wenn ich so an meinen Kampf denke, dann kam der Thai von hinten, hatte mich mit dem gezielten Schlag auf die Schläfe und gleichzeitigem Wegziehen der Beine gelegt. Also, plumps, da lag ich dann flach auf dem Boden. Und dann hatte der unablässig auf mich eingetreten, ist vielleicht zwei Mal um mich rum gelaufen und hat überall getreten wo er nur konnte. Ein Körperteil nach dem anderen, in die Nieren, in die Seite, in Richtung Kopf der geschützt war, usw usw usw.
Ein Deutscher würde nicht treten sondern sich runter beugen mich fest halten und sagen: "Das hast du jetzt davon wenn du hier Theater an meinem Bierstand machst und mir erklärst dass ich wäre schwachsinniger Idiot" Und dann wäre auch Ruhe. Ein Brite würde den jüngeren Briten von Vorne boxen, aber nicht mit Anlauf einen kraftvollen Schlag auf die Schläfe eines 68 Jährigen ausführen, der kann davon ja sterben. Und dann wäre da auch Ende und der würde Ruhe geben und gehen. Die alte Frau würde der anbrüllen, schubsen oder ihr eine Ohrfeige geben.
Also die sind schon hemmungslose Schlächter, diese Thais, zumindest die vier aus dem Film und die Bierstand Bedienung aus Phuket auch.
Fazit: Vorsicht mit dem hochgefährlichen Pack. Aber das kann jedem überall auf der Welt passieren. Hier in Deutschland kann man sicher sein, dass Bürger die in Russland, Serbien oder anderswo sozialisiert wurden wieder total anders reagieren als Eingeborene.
